Officially known as the "Benevolent and
Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.), Oakland's Elks Lodge No. 2167 was chartered in 1960
and concentrates its volunteer efforts on behalf of the handicapped.
The Elks Lodge consists of meeting rooms,
catering facilities, a pub, and lounge. Here members host parties for handicapped
children and invite hospitalized veterans for dinners and entertainment. Members
enroll and pay for handicapped children at Elks Camp Moore, participate with Indian Hills
High School in awarding scholarships, and distribute food to needy families in the area.
