Forest Fire Service There is a routine of watching for fires in the dense forests of Northern New Jersey - fires that could destroy many valuable homes. There is a constant concern for the many types of animals in the forests for the proper balance of wild life, and for the welfare of injured and diseased animals. The routine of Forest Services can quickly change and add a well-earned record of volunteer feats. Rangers and volunteers may search for and rescue bikers lost in the woods in the middle of the night or missing children lost in town. Animals scared by blasts from poacher's guns can stray into trouble - onto a highway or the middle of a frozen lake. They are also called into action during floods, snow storms and hurricanes. |
