How Coaches Are Chosen
In order for anyone to coach in the borough of Oakland, they must be certified in 3 aspects:
- Criminal/Background Check
- Rutgers Safety Course Certified
- Completed Concussion Training
If anyone has not completed all 3 they will not be considered for coaching, regardless if they checked off the "wishing to coach box."
If you wish to coach, please complete the 3 necessities, and please don't wait until the last minute. It may take the state police up to a month to get back to Oakland on whether an individual has passed the Criminal/Background check. If someone "takes the background check" it doesn’t mean they are allowed to coach. Not until the borough has received the person's name as cleared will they be considered to coach (along with completing the other 2 requirements). Once they passed all three steps, their name will appear on the approved coaches list. Once their name is posted they may be considered to coach.
