Bergen County COVID-19 Testing Center

COVID-19 Bergen County Testing Center Newbridge Bergen New Bridge Medical Center at 230 East Ridgewood Avenue, Paramus, NJ.:

  • Where: The county operated site is located at: Bergen New Bridge Medical Center at 230 East Ridgewood Avenue, Paramus, NJ.  This is an APPOINTMENT ONLY site.
  • Who: This site is open to Bergen County residents who are symptomatic; this site will continue to serve first responders and healthcare professionals who live or work in Bergen County as well. 
  • Symptomatic Bergen County residents, first responders or healthcare professionals must provide photo identification proving their residency and/or professionals to provide qualifying photo id. 
  • NEW: The Bergen County operated site is now open to all municipal employees who work in any of our 70 municipalities regardless of residency.  Proof of employment within the municipality required.  Also, open to ALL Bergen County employees regardless of residency with proof of employment; individuals must be symptomatic and must follow the below steps.
  • How:
    • OPTION 1: Residents must first be screened by completing a brief survey located at https://www.newbridgehealth.org and evaluated by a Telehealth doctor. Patients will then be given a confirmation code number to present at the drive-thru testing site that corresponds with their appointment.
  • OR:
  • Follow link to COVID screening and follow prompts to upload a doctor’s order (prescription) into the system.

  • *** Please note that this is a County operated site and is separate from the FEMA site located at Bergen Community College in Paramus.

COVID-19 FEMA Community Based Testing Center at Bergen County Community College (400 Paramus Road, Lots B and C, Paramus NJ):

  • A drive through FEMA Community Based Testing Center at Bergen County Community College is available in lots B and C.  Hours are Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The site is closed Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The site is open from 8:00 a.m. - complete.
    • Pre-registration is not required
    • I.D. for New Jersey Residence
    • Must show symptoms to be tested. This includes: 
    • Fever of 99.6 or higher
    • Respiratory symptoms or shortness of breath
    • There are a limited number of tests and therefore healthcare workers have priority.
  • What to expect:
    • Long wait times
    • Restrooms not available
    • Drive through secured area. Please remain in vehicle. 
    • Bring water/whatever items you will need while waiting
    • Media presence
    • Testing includes nasal swab

If you do not meet the symptoms criteria, you will be turned away

FEMA Community Based Testing is for New Jersey Residents and is not County specific: 

  • Any NJ resident planning to attend a FEMA community-based testing site, please bring proof of your New Jersey residency by bringing a government-issued photo ID.
  • In addition to the two FEMA community-based testing sites, there is testing being offered in other counties - in most cases this testing is for county residents only. Contact your local health department for more information. At these county testing clinics, you must be symptomatic (fever, showing respiratory illness), have a doctor’s prescription for testing, and an appointment. Some clinics are open and others will be open soon.
  • No clinics are testing asymptomatic persons.

(Q): How soon are test results coming back from the FEMA community based testing sites?

  • (A): Test results from FEMA community-based sites are being provided within 3-5 days after testing. You will be called with test results. You should have instructions on the paper provided to you at the testing site with more information.

(Q): I was tested at one of the FEMA testing sites. What should I do about work while I wait for the results? 

  • (A): As the instructions on the paper you received at the FEMA testing site says, you should:
    • Inform your supervisor that you were tested for COVID-19 and note the date of testing
    • If you are experiencing symptoms: Notify your supervisor and stay home
    • If you are not experiencing symptoms: Request guidance from your supervisor on any potential work restrictions until you know your test results
    • Avoid using public transportation, ride-sharing, or taxis when commuting. What should you do to protect yourself while you wait for test results form the FEMA community-based testing site?
    • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Clean your hands with an alcoholbased hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Clean all “high-touch” surfaces every day. High-touch surfaces include counters, tabletops, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets, and remote controls.
    • Cover coughs and sneezes.
