Coming to Your Mailbox: The New Oakland 2020 Wall Calendar

Note from Oakland Borough Newsletter Editor Elizabeth Llorente:

Before moving to Oakland years ago, I lived in another New Jersey town that mailed out an annual wall calendar focused on local events and information about government agencies and schedules. It was a wonderful handy item that put important and interesting information about the town at your fingertips. Now, I'm looking forward to Oakland's inaugural calendar. Here is some information about it from Oakland's assistant to the borough administrator, Michael Carelli.

Question: What will be included in the calendar?

Carelli: The town calendar will have great benefit to the community. The calendar will be a print calendar that will feature information on each borough department, board, committee, commission, and much more. The calendar itself will feature meeting dates and times, town events, garbage and recycling pickup information, etc. The calendar will have all the information you need to know about the Borough of Oakland in one place. The calendar will be mailed to every home and business in Oakland free of charge.

Question: How and when will residents be able to get it?

Carelli: The calendar will be released before January 2020, so be on the lookout in the mail! A PDF version will also be available on the borough website.

Question: Will there be opportunities to advertise in the calendar?

Carelli: The borough is giving local businesses a chance to advertise in the town calendar. An Oakland based business can purchase a slot for $225 per month. A business can purchase up to six months worth of ads. The benefit of advertising in the calendar is that you are guaranteed to get your business card inside someone’s home, unlike other advertising magazines that go straight into the garbage.
