Mayor's Message -- January 2020

Mayor Linda H. Schwager

Our town is very fortunate to have so many residents who volunteer their time and give of themselves to help others.

We have another fundraiser for Oakland resident Antonio Iappica, a 15 year old IHHS sophomore who plays on the soccer team. He was seriously injured during a game.  Antonio's recovery has been long and difficult.  Oakland residents and the entire FLOW community have come together to help defray the mounting medical expenses the Iapicca family has endured.  For information about the latest fundraiser, call (201) 540-8558.

Thank you to all our resident volunteers, our first responders and the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department who came to the aid of Franklin Lakes to help with the fire at Most Blessed Sacrament Church.

I am proud to announce that Congressman Josh Gottheimer's Hometown Heroes Award was given to Oakland residents Larry and Ronnie Levine on Monday, December 16, 2019. The Levines have done so much for our community. You see their presence in our library, at RBARI, the flower pots standing throughout our town, and wherever help is needed. All this without fanfare, just a desire to help. Larry and Ronnie Levine are OUR HOMETOWN HEROES.

Happy Holidays to all and a very happy and healthy 2020,

Linda
