Bronze Recertification -- 2020

Oakland, NJ – We are so proud to announce that Borough of Oakland, NJ has once again achieved bronze-level Sustainable Jersey certification for 2019. We are one of only 212 communities in the state to be certified by Sustainable Jersey, and one of only 83 towns that attained certification during the 2019 submission. The Sustainable Oakland Green Team was honored at the Sustainable Jersey awards
luncheon on Tuesday November 19, 2019 in in Atlantic City with the Committee Chair, Carol Peterson accepting the award. Certified towns are an outstanding group of municipalities that are making important contributions toward the long-term goal of a sustainable New Jersey and world.

To become Sustainable Jersey certified, the Sustainable Oakland Green Team submitted documentation to show it had completed a balance of the required sustainability actions, meeting a minimum of 150 action points. In addition to reaching 150 points, each certified community had to create a Green Team and select at least 2 out of 12 priority action options. The Sustainable Oakland Green Team was
awarded 3 of the 12 priority actions by submitting documentation for 1) the natural resource inventory, 2) prescription drug safety and disposal, and 3) sustainable land use pledge.
