Coronavirus Update 10-19-2020

County of Bergen Mobile COVID-19 Testing:

The County of Bergen in partnership with Newbridge Medical Center is hosting a Mobile Coronavirus (COVID-19) testing site at the Franklin Lakes Community Center, 1 Vichiconti Way, Franklin Lakes, N.J. on Monday October 26, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be priority processing for those with a Bergen County I.D. Card, and also for school employees that work in Bergen County. From 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Register for priority processing here.

            Please bring:

  • Identification (Driver’s License, social security card, passport, or birth certificate).
  • Proof of Bergen County residence, school ID, or employment with a Bergen County Municipality.
  • Insurance card, if applicable.

Flu shots are available also and are on a first come, first serve basis. Antibody testing is no longer offered, despite the flier.

All mobile COVID-19 testing sites are weather permitting. Please check the County website for more information at co.bergen.nj.us.

Upcoming General Election Update:

The Borough of Oakland would like to remind residents that if you are a registered voter in Oakland, you should have received your vote-by-mail ballot by now from the County. If you have not yet received your ballot, please call the Bergen County Clerk’s Office at (201) 336-7020. Your vote by mail ballot may be returned one of the following ways:

  • Via United States Postal Service (USPS) mail.
  • Bergen County Ballot Box. The Borough of Oakland has a ballot box at the Oakland Borough Hall, 1 Municipal Plaza, Oakland, N.J. 07436 to the left of the front door. The box is under 24/7 video surveillance by the Police Department and ballots are collected on a daily basis by the County of Bergen.
  • Drop off at your polling location on Election Day.

There will be a polling place open on Election Day at Valley Middle School, 71 Oak Street, Oakland, N.J. 07436. The voting machine is ONLY for those that are blind or illiterate and you must sign a certification that you are disabled. Otherwise, you may vote on a paper provisional ballot.

Coronavirus Positive Tests in Oakland:

The Borough of Oakland has been notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there are currently 2 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Oakland, bringing our to-date total of 267 positive reported cases. There are 4 new positive cases in Franklin Lakes bringing their to-date total to 223 cases, and 2 new positive cases in Wyckoff bringing their to-date total to 420 cases. Bergen County reported 221 new positive cases bringing the County of Bergen total to 23,120. Today the Borough of Oakland was notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there was 1,192 new positive COVID-19 cases reported today, bringing the state-wide New Jersey total to 221,205 cases.
