Borough of Oakland Announces Free Rabies Clinic:

The Borough of Oakland Rabies Clinic will be held on Saturday November 7, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. by appointment only. Walk-ins are not permitted.

To register, call the Board of Health at (201) 337-8111, ext. 2018. Appointments are limited and will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. Please have proof of previous rabies vaccines ready when you call, if applicable.

Please note:

  • Dogs must be on leashes.
  • Social distancing and masks are required.
  • Animal will get a 1 year vaccine if no proof of rabies vaccination and a 3 year vaccine with proof of previous rabies vaccination.
  • You will receive instructions for location and parking procedures when you pre-register.

Human Services Opens Applications for Coronavirus Child Care Tuition Assistance Program:

New Jersey Human Services Commissioner Carole Johnson announced that applications are now open for the new COVID-19 child care tuition assistance program the Murphy Administration has created to help families with child care costs as schools open remotely.

The $150 million program will provide child care tuition assistance to New Jersey families with incomes up to $75,000 that are in need of either full or part-time child care due to their child’s remote learning schedule.

Families can apply for this assistance by completing the online application at www.ChildCareNJ.gov. Those applying will need proof of income and a notice or announcement from their child’s school of a remote learning schedule.

Tuition assistance will be available through December 30, 2020 for eligible residents with school-age children, 5 to 13 years old.

Families may submit applications and Human Services will provide the tuition assistance to eligible participants until funding is exhausted.  Recipients will be eligible for either full- or part-time support based on their families’ needs.

Coronavirus Positive Tests in Oakland:

The Borough of Oakland has been notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there are currently 2 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Oakland, bringing our to-date total of 263 positive reported cases. There are 15 new positive cases in Franklin Lakes bringing their to-date total to 214 cases, and 3 new positive cases in Wyckoff bringing their to-date total to 419 cases. Bergen County reported 365 new positive cases bringing the County of Bergen total to 22,979. Today the Borough of Oakland was notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there are 522 new positive COVID-19 cases reported Monday and 637 new positive COVID-19 cases reported Sunday, bringing the state-wide New Jersey total to 208,713 cases. These increasing positive cases are due to spikes in Ocean and Monmouth County.
