Coronavirus Update 11-2-2020

Reminder: Tomorrow is Election Day:

Tomorrow is Election Day and it is not too late to vote. The Borough of Oakland has a ballot drop box at the Borough Hall, 1 Municipal Plaza, Oakland, NJ 07436 to the left of the front door, and will be collected until Election Night at 8:00 p.m. The box is under 24/7 surveillance. Oakland’s only polling location on Election Day is at Valley Middle School, 71 Oak Street, Oakland, NJ 07436. Polls are open from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Residents may vote in person ONLY on a paper provisional ballot. The voting machines are ONLY for those that are blind and illiterate, or if you cannot fill out the paper ballot, and must sign a certification of such. 

Bergen County Mobile COVID-19 Testing:

Due to the impending weather, the Regional Community Mobile COVID-19 Testing sites scheduled for Thursday, October 29th and Friday, October 30th have been postponed. Both sites have been rescheduled for the following dates:

  • Wednesday, November 4th (9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.):
    • River Vale with Emerson, Hillsdale, Montvale, Park Ridge, Washington Township, Westwood, Woodcliff Lake
    • River Vale Town Hall 406 Rivervale Road, River Vale
  • Thursday, November 5th (9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.):
    • New Milford with Bergenfield, Cresskill, Dumont, Haworth, Oradell, River Edge
    • 814 River Road, New Milford (Old Shop Rite)

The Bergen County Regional Community Mobile Testing program is available to all Bergen County residents free-of-charge thanks to a partnership between the County of Bergen and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. All testing locations this fall will offer COVID-19 saliva tests and flu vaccinations.

Residents can pre-register for their test at a Regional Community Mobile Testing site through an online portal to receive priority processing. To pre-register visit www.BergenCOVIDTesting.com. Please note, residents who choose to pre-register for testing must bring their mobile device for check-in.

For the COVID-19 saliva test, please do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum 30 minutes prior to arrival. Identification is necessary so please bring your driver’s license/ID card, school identification card, social security card, passport, or birth certificate. Proof of Bergen County residency or that you work in Bergen County is required so please bring your driver’s license, utility bill, pay stub, or work ID.  If you have an insurance card, also bring that with you.

Coronavirus Positive Tests in Oakland:

The Borough of Oakland has been notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there is currently 5 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Oakland, bringing our to-date total of 281 positive reported cases. There are 8 new positive cases in Franklin Lakes bringing their to-date total to 244 cases, and 18 new positive cases in Wyckoff bringing their to-date total to 462 cases. Bergen County reported 980 new positive cases bringing the County of Bergen total to 25,369. Today the Borough of Oakland was notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there was 1,123 new positive COVID-19 cases reported today, bringing the state-wide New Jersey total to 229,684 cases.
