Coronavirus Update 11-9-2020

Governor Murphy Announces Actions to Further Stop the Spread of COVID-19:

  • Effective Thursday, November 12th:
    • No indoor dining between 10:00 PM – 5:00 AM at restaurants, bars, clubs, and lounges.
    • Outdoor dining, takeout, and delivery services may continue past 10:00 P.M.
    • Casinos must stop serving food/drinks at 10:00 P.M.
    • All bar side seating will be prohibited.
    • Restaurants may place tables closer than 6 feet ONLY if separated by barriers.
    • Individual fully-enclosed dining bubbles may be set-up for outside use.

Furthermore, Governor Murphy announced that starting this Thursday, all interstate games and tournaments for indoor youth sports – up to and including high school – are prohibited. It is simply not safe for teams to be crossing state lines at this time to participate in indoor competitions, per Governor Murphy.

Governor Murphy Announces Phase II of NJEDA’s PPE Discount Program:

Through the New Jersey Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Access Program, all NJ-based businesses and non-profits are eligible for a 10% discount on PPE purchases made through an approved online retailer.

Small businesses with under 100 employees may be eligible for an additional 25% discount.

County of Bergen Mobile COVID-19 Testing:

Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco announced the following two additional County Regional Community Testing sites which will take place this week:

  • Tuesday, November 10th (9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.)
    • Pascack Brook County Park, 150 Emerson Road Westwood, NJ 07675
  • Saturday, November 14th (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
    • Bergen County Special Services School District, 296 E. Ridgewood Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652

**Priority processing with Bergen County school ID for staff/faculty from 9AM-10:30AM**

The Bergen County Regional Community Mobile Testing program is available to all Bergen County residents free-of-charge thanks to a partnership between the County of Bergen and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. All testing locations this fall will offer COVID-19 saliva tests and flu vaccinations.

Residents can pre-register for their test at a Regional Community Mobile Testing site through an online portal to receive priority processing. To pre-register visit www.BergenCOVIDTesting.com. Please note, residents who choose to pre-register for testing must bring their mobile device for check-in.

For the COVID-19 saliva test, please do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew gum 30 minutes prior to arrival. Identification is necessary so please bring your driver’s license/ID card, school identification card, social security card, passport, or birth certificate. Proof of Bergen County residency or that you work in Bergen County is required so please bring your driver’s license, utility bill, pay stub, or work ID.  If you have an insurance card, also bring that with you.

Borough of Oakland Selling 'Oakland' Branded Face Masks:

The Borough of Oakland is selling 'Oakland' branded COVID-19 face masks to the public.

Masks are available at the Borough Hall, 1 Municipal Plaza, Oakland, NJ 07436 at the Borough Clerk's Office during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The masks are cloth masks.

Masks are $6.00 check payable to the Borough of Oakland.

Coronavirus Positive Tests in Oakland:

The Borough of Oakland has been notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there are no new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Oakland, so our total to date remains 283 positive reported cases. There are 8 new positive cases in Franklin Lakes bringing their to-date total to 258 cases, and 7 new positive cases in Wyckoff bringing their to-date total to 477 cases. Bergen County reported 578 new positive cases bringing the County of Bergen total to 26,629. Today the Borough of Oakland was notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there was 2,075 new positive COVID-19 cases reported today, bringing the state-wide New Jersey total to 256,653 cases.
