Borough of Oakland Altice/Optimum Complaint Portal:

Mayor Linda H. Schwager is announcing an Altice/Optimum Grievance Box as a result of severe internet connectivity issues and a flurry of complaints from Oakland residents and business owners. The grievance box has been posted on the Borough Website here. Once you click on the service request module, click on the drop down menu, and look for ‘Altice/Optimum Complaint’. You may fill out your issues and complaints in the text box at the bottom. Please note that this link is not for billing related inquiries or complaints on bill amounts. Please use the link for escalated issues or concerns that you were not able to resolve by first contacting the service provider. Your complaints will be sent directly to Altice’s Government Affairs representative by the Borough

Ponds Church Food Pantry Assisting Those in Need:

Ponds Food Pantry is open and ready to serve the entire community during these difficult times. There is no reason for anyone to go without food. Residents may email your list of needs to food@pondsnj.org or call with their list to 201-337-6744. Email is preferred. Grocery orders will be filled within a day or two. This service is confidential.

Bergen County Mobile COVID-19 Testing:

As a reminder, the County of Bergen has COVID-19 mobile testing dates and times all throughout the month of December. Testing is located at the new drive-thru program at Bergen Community College located at 400 Paramus Rd, Paramus, N.J.

Testing is available to all county residents free of charge, regardless of health insurance status. Residents must schedule their test through an online portal which can be reached at www.BergenCOVIDTesting.com. Please note residents must bring their mobile device for check-in.  Identification is necessary so please bring ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: your driver’s license/ID card, social security card, passport, or birth certificate.  Proof of Bergen County residency or proof of employment that you work for one of the 70 municipalities or are employed by a Bergen County public school is required so please bring your driver’s license, utility bill, employee work ID or paystub.  If you have health insurance, please bring your with you as well.

The County of Bergen and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center remind all residents that mobile testing is only one way to get tested. Oakland Elks Lodge Announces Winter Coat Drive:

Oakland Elks Lodge 2167 has announced a Winter Coat Drive until December 31, 2020. Drop off new, used, and clean coats at the Oakland Elks Front Porch, 33 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, N.J. 07436. Coats, hats, gloves, scarfs, sleeping bags, and blankets are accepted. Please help keep our community warm!

Post-Holiday Styrofoam Collection:

The Sustainable Bergen Hub is hosting a Styrofoam Collection on Saturday December 26, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at 441 Hillsdale Avenue, Hillsdale, N.J., or until the truck is full. The first hour is for Hillsdale residents only, and 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. is for Bergen County residents. This collection is for EPS styrofoam only, no XPS (packing peanuts or food containers). All styrofoam must be clean. This is a contactless drop off, masks required when in car, and social distancing must be practiced.

COVID Alert NJ is New Jersey's free and secure mobile app that anonymously alerts users if they have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. The app also provides users with up-to-date information on New Jersey reopening news, key COVID-19 metrics, and a user-friendly symptom tracking tool. COVID Alert NJ uses Bluetooth proximity technology. The app will never record any identifying data. All users will remain anonymous.

Coronavirus Positive Tests in Oakland:

The Borough of Oakland has been notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there are 23 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Oakland, bringing our total to 419 positive reported cases. There are 44 new positive cases in Franklin Lakes bringing their to-date total to 445 cases, and 23 new positive cases in Wyckoff bringing their to-date total to 665 cases. Bergen County reported 2,349 new positive cases since Tuesday, bringing the County of Bergen total to 39,555. Today the Borough of Oakland was notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there was 3,821 new positive COVID-19 cases reported today, bringing the state-wide New Jersey total to 390,256.
