Coronavirus Update 12-18-2020

Virtual Borough Council Meeting:

There will be a Virtual Borough Council Meeting on Monday December 21, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. .on Zoom Video Conferencing. To register for the meeting, click here. The meeting will be broadcast on the Borough YouTube Channel and Oakland TV Channel 77 and FiOS 45.

Oakland Fire Department Santa Tour:

It's that time of year again. However this year we have to do things a little differently. Due to the current status of COVID, the Oakland Fire Department‘s Santa Detail is being modified in the following manner. The department has decided to do a drive-by parade. Santa will be on a fire truck driving through the streets of Oakland on Saturday, December 19, 2020 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The Department will be starting on the south side of town. There will be no stopping, so please be sure to listen for the sirens, come outside and wave to Santa.

Bergen County Mobile COVID-19 Testing:

Bergen County’s third week of COVID-19 drive-thru testing at Bergen Community College (400 Paramus Road, Paramus - Lot A) begins tomorrow! This test site will offer COVID-19 Nasal Swab Antigen tests, which allows for rapid results in just 24 hours. Testing is available to all County residents free of charge, regardless of health insurance status.

Residents must schedule their test through an online portal at www.research.net/r/AntigenBCCC.

Pre-registration is required. No walk-ins are permitted.

  • December 19, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • December 21, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • December 22, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Please remember to bring a form of identification, proof of Bergen County residency, and insurance card if applicable.

It is important to continue practicing cautionary measures including wearing a mask when going out, keeping social circles small, and getting tested, especially if you have been exposed to larger group settings.

Coronavirus Positive Tests in Oakland:

The Borough of Oakland has been notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there are 42 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Oakland, bringing our to-date total to 461 cases. The Borough of Franklin Lakes reported 40 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing their to-date total to 485 cases. The Township of Wyckoff reported 75 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing their to-date total to 740 cases. The Bergen County Department of Health has reported 2,254 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the County-wide to-date total to 41,809 cases. Governor Murphy has reported that there was 3,975 new positive COVID-19 cases reported today, bringing the state-wide New Jersey total to 423,226 cases.
