Merry Christmas from the Borough of Oakland:

Borough Offices (Except for Emergency Services) will be closed on Friday December 25, 2020 in recognition of the Christmas Holiday. Borough Offices will reopen on Monday December 28, 2020.  The Borough of Oakland wishes everyone a safe, joyous, and Merry Christmas.  

Garbage Collection Notice:

As a reminder, there is no garbage collection scheduled for December 25, 2020, due to the Christmas Holiday. Collection for the north side will resume on Tuesday December 29, 2020.  

Bergen County Mobile COVID-19 Testing:

Bergen County’s third week of COVID-19 drive-thru testing at Bergen Community College (400 Paramus Road, Paramus - Lot A) begins tomorrow! This test site will offer COVID-19 Nasal Swab Antigen tests, which allows for rapid results in just 24 hours. Testing is available to all County residents free of charge, regardless of health insurance status.

Residents must schedule their test through an online portal at www.research.net/r/AntigenBCCC.

Pre-registration is required. No walk-ins are permitted.

  • December 28, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • December 29, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • December 30, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Please remember to bring a form of identification, proof of Bergen County residency, and insurance card if applicable.

It is important to continue practicing cautionary measures including wearing a mask when going out, keeping social circles small, and getting tested, especially if you have been exposed to larger group settings.

RISE, NJ’s First Responders Covid Hope & Healing Helpline is here for you. The helpline provides live Covid crisis counseling support, 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. to all New Jersey First Responders, including Police, Firefighters, EMS, National Guard, Military and Veterans, their families, and caregivers statewide, with emergency support available 24/7.

The RISE team is comprised of first responders, partnered with highly trained behavioral healthcare experts to offer “peer informed” Covid crisis counseling support services. The services offered include:

  • Covid crisis counseling by phone, chat, and email.
  • Virtual Resilience & Wellness Webinars.
  • Virtual Crisis Counseling Support Groups.
  • Access to best and most up to date resource database available.

Help Fight the Spread of COVID-19: Download the COVID Alert App:

COVID Alert NJ is New Jersey's free and secure mobile app that anonymously alerts users if they have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. The app also provides users with up-to-date information on New Jersey reopening news, key COVID-19 metrics, and a user-friendly symptom tracking tool. COVID Alert NJ uses Bluetooth proximity technology. The app will never record any identifying data. All users will remain anonymous.

Face Masks for Sale at Borough Hall:

Borough of Oakland branded face masks are available for purchase at the Borough Hall, 1 Municipal Plaza, Oakland, N.J. 07436 at the Borough Clerk’s Window. Masks are $6 each payable in check or exact change only. The masks are polyester masks and come in size SM/M and L/XL.

Coronavirus Positive Tests in Oakland:

The Borough of Oakland has been notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there are 19 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Oakland, bringing our to-date total to 481 cases. The Borough of Franklin Lakes reported 5 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing their to-date total to 494 cases. The Township of Wyckoff reported 33 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing their to-date total to 763 cases. The Bergen County Department of Health has reported 1,409 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the County-wide to-date total to 44,011 cases. Governor Murphy has reported that there was 4,919 new positive COVID-19 cases reported today, bringing the state-wide New Jersey total to 445,138 cases.
