Borough Office Closure:

Borough Offices (Except for Emergency Services) are closed on Friday January 1, 2021 in recognition of the New Year’s Holiday. Borough Offices will reopen on Monday January 4, 2021. The Borough of Oakland wishes everyone a safe, healthy, and Happy New Year.

Northside Garbage Collection Suspended January 1st:

Northside Garbage Collection is suspended on Friday January 1, 2021 due to the New Year’s Holiday, and will resume collection on Tuesday January 5, 2021.

2021 Borough Calendar/Garbage and Recycling Information:

Residents should start receiving the 2021 Borough Calendar in the mail starting on Saturday January 2, 2021 through January 4, 2021. Please be advised that the Calendar and Recycling Newsletter have been combined into one (1) publication for 2021. Extra copies will be made available in the Borough Clerk’s Office starting next week. The Borough Calendar will also be made available on the Borough Website as a PDF document for viewing.

Oath of Office Meeting:

The Borough of Oakland is hosting an Oath of Office Meeting on Wednesday January 6, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom video conferencing. To register for the meeting credentials, click here. The meeting will be broadcast on the Oakland TV Channel 77 and FiOS 45 and on the Borough’s YouTube Channel.

Bergen County Announces COVID-19 Testing to Continue in January 2021:

The County of Bergen, in collaboration with Bergen New Bridge Medical Center announce January 2021 dates for drive-thru COVID-19 rapid testing at Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Rd, Paramus, N.J.

The program will offer antigen nasal swab rapid COVID-19 tests on the following days below for the month of January:

    • 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 7, 2021

Testing is available to all county residents at no out-of-pocket cost, regardless of health insurance status. Residents must schedule their test through an online portal which can be reached at www.BergenCOVIDTesting.com. Please note residents must bring their mobile device for check-in.  Identification is necessary so please bring ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: your driver’s license/ID card, social security card, passport, or birth certificate.  Proof of Bergen County residency or proof of employment that you work for one of the 70 municipalities or are employed by a Bergen County public school is required so please bring your driver’s license, utility bill, employee work ID or paystub.  If you have health insurance, please bring your with you.

The County of Bergen and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center remind all residents that mobile testing is only one way to get tested.  COVID-19 nasal, saliva, and antibody testing are also available by appointment at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center.  To make an appointment please visit https://www.newbridgehealth.org/covid-19-testing/ for more information.

State of New Jersey Announces COVID-19 Vaccination Website:

Governor Murphy announced that the State of New Jersey now has a central online location for official vaccine-related information – and a landing page for a Vaccine Registration portal in the near future.

Governor Murphy Announces Senior Freeze Deadline is Extended:

Governor Murphy announced today that the deadline for Senior Freeze Property Tax Relief Program has been extended until February 1, 2021. Visit nj.gov/treasury for more information.

Coronavirus Positive Tests in Oakland:

The Borough of Oakland has been notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there are 16 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Oakland, bringing our to-date total to 509 cases. The Borough of Franklin Lakes reported 16 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing their to-date total to 526 cases. The Township of Wyckoff reported 12 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing their to-date total to 793 cases. The Bergen County Department of Health has reported 1,438 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the County-wide to-date total to 46,473 cases. Governor Murphy has reported that there was 4,664 new positive COVID-19 cases reported today, bringing the state-wide New Jersey total to 472,264 cases.
