Coronavirus Update 12-7-2020

Borough of Oakland Altice/Optimum Complaint Portal:

Mayor Linda H. Schwager is announcing an Altice/Optimum Grievance Box as a result of severe internet connectivity issues and a flurry of complaints from Oakland residents and business owners. The grievance box has been posted on the Borough Website here. Once you click on the service request module, click on the drop down menu, and look for ‘Altice/Optimum Complaint’. You may fill out your issues and complaints in the text box at the bottom. Please note that this link is not for billing related inquiries or complaints on bill amounts. Please use the link for escalated issues or concerns that you were not able to resolve by first contacting the service provider. Your complaints will be sent directly to Altice’s Government Affairs representative by the Borough.

Furthermore, if you are experiencing cable or internet problems, we strongly encourage you to file a complaint directly with the NJ Board of Public Utilities, click here: https://www.bpu.state.nj.us/bpu/assistance/complaints/inquiry.html.

Virtual Borough Council Meeting:

There will be a Virtual Borough Council Meeting on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. on Zoom Video Conferencing. To register for the meeting, click here. The meeting will also be broadcast live on Oakland TV Channel 77 and FiOS 45, and on the Borough’s YouTube Channel. 

Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony Available to Watch:

This year’s Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony has been posted for viewing on the Borough’s YouTube Channel here. Thank you to the Public Events Committee for hosting such a wonderful event, and the Communications Commission for filming for those that chose to stay home and watch.

Post-Holiday Styrofoam Collection:

The Sustainable Bergen Hub is hosting a Styrofoam Collection on Saturday December 26, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at 441 Hillsdale Avenue, Hillsdale, N.J., or until the truck is full. The first hour is for Hillsdale residents only, and 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. is for Bergen County residents. This collection is for EPS styrofoam only, no XPS (packing peanuts or food containers). All styrofoam must be clean. This is a contactless drop off, masks required when in car, and social distancing must be practiced.

COVID Alert NJ is New Jersey's free and secure mobile app that anonymously alerts users if they have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. The app also provides users with up-to-date information on New Jersey reopening news, key COVID-19 metrics, and a user-friendly symptom tracking tool. COVID Alert NJ uses Bluetooth proximity technology. The app will never record any identifying data. All users will remain anonymous.

Coronavirus Positive Tests in Oakland:

The Borough of Oakland has been notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there are 11 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in Oakland, bringing our total to 397 positive reported cases. There are 21 new positive cases in Franklin Lakes bringing their to-date total to 401 cases, and 16 new positive cases in Wyckoff bringing their to-date total to 642 cases. Bergen County reported 1,306 new positive cases since Tuesday, bringing the County of Bergen total to 37,206. Today the Borough of Oakland was notified by the Bergen County Department of Health that there was 3,573 new positive COVID-19 cases reported today, bringing the state-wide New Jersey total to 371,579 cases.
