Borough of Oakland Hosting Free COVID-19 Testing:
The Borough of Oakland is hosting Free Nasal Swab PCR COVID-19 testing at the Oakland Senior Center, 20 Lawlor Drive, Oakland, NJ 07436. Testing dates are every Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. There is not residency requirements for our testing site. You must bring proof of residency and insurance card, if applicable. You are asked to remain in your vehicle and an attendee will come to your car. Masks are required inside your vehicle. You must register online at https://test.oaklandnj.online. Please note – there are no walk-ins allowed. You must register online and make an appointment.
Borough Offices Closed Monday February 15, 2021:
Borough Offices (Except for Emergency Services) will be closed on Monday February 15, 2021 in recognition of the President's Day Holiday. Borough Offices will reopen on Tuesday February 16, 2021.
Oakland Public Schools Announce Kindergarten Registration:
Due to the current health circumstances, the Oakland Public Schools District Kindergarten Registration will not be held in-person. The necessary forms are available for download on the Oakland web page www.oakland schools nj.org. Please refer to the checklist that is located on the district website before submitting the information.
To facilitate the registration process, please be aware of the following:
- Your child must be five on or before October 1, 2021.
- You must submit a photocopy of the original birth certificate with the seal and 2 proofs of residency along with the completed registration forms. Verification of original documents may be asked for at a later date.
- You must provide proof of your child’s current immunizations.
- Please mail your completed forms to the school.

State of New Jersey Relaunches PPE Discount Program for Businesses:
Starting February 16th small businesses and organizations under 100 employees will be eligible to apply for an additional 65% discount on PPE products. Businesses and organizations that were already approved for the 65% discount in November or December will NOT need to reapply.
All New Jersey based businesses and non-profits are still eligible for a 10% discount on PPE purchases through the program as well. Click here for more information.
NJEDA Defers Pre-Registration for Phase 2 of Small Business Emergency Assistance Loan Program:
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) today announced that pre-registration for Phase 2 of the Small Business Emergency Assistance Loan Program will be deferred. Pre-registration was scheduled to open on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. The Authority has not announced a new date for the program.
The Authority deferred the launch of the program to accommodate the rollout of additional federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) financing for small businesses, which had not been announced when the NJEDA was preparing to launch the Small Business Emergency Assistance Loan Program. To date, more than $2.1 billion has already been loaned to New Jersey businesses through the PPP in 2021. The deferral will allow the NJEDA to tailor the Emergency Assistance Loan Program to address gaps in the availability of federal financing and more effectively meet businesses’ unique needs.
The NJEDA will share additional updates on the Emergency Assistance Loan Program and other COVID-19 relief resources as they become available. Information will also be shared on the COVID-19 Business Hub: https://cv.business.nj.gov.
Borough of Oakland Free Radon Test Kits:
As part of Radon Awareness Month, the Borough of Oakland is giving away FREE Radon Test Kits Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the Oakland Board of Health, 1 Municipal Plaza, Lower Level, Oakland, N.J. 07436.
Borough of Oakland Selling COVID-19 Face Masks:
As a reminder, the Borough of Oakland is selling Oakland branded face masks at the Oakland Borough Hall, 1 Municipal Plaza, Oakland, N.J. 07436, during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Masks are $6 each, and check or exact change will be accepted.
