Coronavirus Update 2-5-2021

The Borough of Oakland is hosting Free Nasal Swab PCR COVID-19 testing at the Oakland Senior Center, 20 Lawlor Drive, Oakland, NJ 07436. Testing dates are every Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Due to the storm there is also a makeup testing date this Sunday February 7, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Testing is open to all Oakland, Franklin Lakes, and Wyckoff residents. Residents must bring proof of residency and insurance card, if applicable. Residents are asked to remain in your vehicle and an attendee will come to your car. Masks are required inside your vehicle. Residents must register online here. Please note – there are no walk-ins allowed. Residents must register online and make an appointment. As a reminder, all COVID-19 vaccination appointments at the Bergen County Vaccination Center at the Alternate Care Facility Annex at the Bergen New Bridge Medical Center that were scheduled for Monday February 1, 2021 and Tuesday February 2, 2021 will be honored until this Saturday February 6, 2021. Should your mailbox be damaged by the Department of Public Works due to snow removal operations, you must email the DPW Roads Department at roads@oakland-nj.org.

The Oakland Police Department, in partnership with the Bergen County Community Engagement Task Force and Oakland PBA 164, is sponsoring a Youth Writing Contest. The contest is open to all 7th and 8th grade students attending both public and non-public schools in Oakland. The topic for the essay is, “Why is it important for members of the community to engage with local Police Departments?” The First Place prize winner will be awarded a 14” HP Chromebook! As a reminder, the Borough of Oakland is selling Oakland branded face masks at the Oakland Borough Hall, 1 Municipal Plaza, Oakland, N.J. 07436, during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Masks are $6 each, and check or exact change will be accepted.
