Statement on Bergen Record Article on Illegal Dumping

A recent article in the Bergen Record stated that contaminated soil was illegally dumped at a well site in Wyckoff owned by Ridgewood Water Company and that the soil had been destined for Oakland. After investigating the matter and speaking with the Attorney that prepared the complaint, there is no evidence that the material was in fact going to be dumped in our community. The Borough will vigorously enforce the law if any illegal dumping occurs in Oakland. If any information is revealed that any dumping was to occur in Oakland the borough will take appropriate action.
