The Sustainable Oakland Green Team and Oakland Public Schools presents "Anti-Idling Week" from September 23rd to September 27th!
Idling for 10 seconds wastes more fuel than restarting your car!
- It Saves Gas
- It Saves Money
- AND It Saves The Planet!
In addition to wasting gas and contributing to air pollution, idling creates a concenrated area of emissions known as a hot spot in your school's pickup zone. Children's health is significantly at risk in hot spots; developing lungs breathe more rapidly and inhale more pollutants.
SIGN THE PLEDGE!
- Pledges will be distributed at all Elementary Schools and Valley Middle School on 9/23. Return to school by 9/27.
- Pledges are also available in the Borough Hall Lobby, Oakland Public Library, and Oakland Senior Center. Pledges may be signed and placed at the bottom of the pile for collection.
