Mayors Message February 2024

Mayor Kulmala’ s Wellness Campaign Blood Drive

I would like to personally invite you to join me in donating a pint of blood.  Your blood donation is needed to help alleviate blood shortages and make sure lifesaving medical procedures are not delayed.

Join me at the Oakland Senior Center on Thursday, February 15 from 12:30 to 4:30pm. If you would like more information please visit  www.Oakland-nj.org

Your participation and involvement is urgently needed!

Lakeside Blvd Water Main Project Update

I am very excited to update you on Oakland’s progress on our water main upgrades.  The last section of pipe was installed on the corner of Ramapo Hills Blvd and Monhegan on January 29, 2024. This will be followed by 2 to 3 days of pressure testing of the new main. Upon the completion of the testing, the remaining houses will be connected to the new water service. We anticipate this should be completed in 2 weeks weather permitting.

PFOA Water Treatment Update

The water treatment equipment continues to track for completion at the end of February with an anticipated start up by February 25th.  We continue to make this our highest priority and are finally making tremendous progress to bring this crucial project to completion.

Patriots Way Bridge Replacement Update

We have advanced to the pre-construction stage of this vital project, and we are working with our Borough Engineer and construction vendors to prepare for our pre-construction meeting.  I am planning a public meeting with the residents of the Reserve in late February to discuss construction expectations and project timelines.  We are anxious to finally start the needed construction of the bridge in order to provide safety for Oakland’s residents.
