Mayor's Message - October 2022

Mayor Linda H. Schwager
Mayor Linda H. Schwager

Oakland is a terrific town to raise a family.  We have many activities for our families.  We have terrific schools.  AND most of all we have wonderful caring residents.  There is always someone who will step up to the plate and volunteer.

At this time I want to thank Elizabeth Llorente who has been the editor of the monthly Oakland Newsletter for many years but must now step down.  Elizabeth did a super job and cannot be thanked enough for her hard work, keeping our newsletter timely and informative.

And now we have a new volunteer who is willing to become the editor of our Oakland Newsletter. A big thanks to Kerri Sirinides for stepping up to take over as Editor of the Oakland Monthly Newsletter just in time for this exciting new season.

Summer has officially ended so we begin the fall season with many wonderful family activities.  In Oakland, we are especially proud of the annual Halloween parade and event organized by our fabulous Oakland Public Events Committee. Dust off your costumes and get ready for October 29, 2022 at the Oakland Public Library.

Lineup is at Valley Middle School and the parade ends at the Oakland Library at which time there will be food, activities, candy and pumpkins for all. Check our Borough website for more details: www.Oakland-nj.org

I look forward to seeing you on October 29th.
