A move 4 years in the making, President Donald J. Trump has signed legislation naming the Oakland  post office for World War II Veteran and Former Post Master of 48 years, Frank Leone.

The Oakland post office, at 332 Ramapo Valley Road, will now be known as the Frank Leone Post Office. The White House says Trump signed House Resolution 6428 on December 21, 2018. The Borough of Oakland would like to thank Congressman Josh Gottheimer for sponsoring the bill, and for advocating on its passage.

House Resolution 6428, https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/6428, passed the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives before it made its way to President Trump’s desk. Frank Leone was a Navy      Veteran of World War II, and was appointed Post Master of the Oakland Post Office by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967, a position which he held for 48 years. Mr. Leone passed away on September 7, 2014.

Mayor Linda H. Schwager and the Borough Council announced that an official ceremony will take place sometime in the Spring of 2019. Congratulations to the Leone Family for this great honor.
