Food Licenses & Inspection Placards

FOOD LICENSE APPLICATIONS

All restaurants, caterers, food stalls, food trucks, and online retail food businesses are regulated and licensed by our local health department. Dependent upon whether the establishment is all-year round or just for a specific event, a food license is required. FOOD PLACARD INFORMATION

ORDINANCE #19-CODE-95 REQUIRES FOOD ESTABLISHMENT INSPECTION PLACARDS BE READILY VISIBLE TO THE PUBLIC:

The Oakland Board of Health passed Ordinance #19-CODE-95 in October 2019, requiring the inspection placard for New Jersey State Chapter 24 be posted in the entry window of food establishments in Oakland immediately after inspection. If there is no window, the placard must be placed in a conspicuous place near the public entrance. This provides a quick and easy way for patrons to know if the food establishment they wish to patronize has been deemed satisfactory by the Health Inspector.

For any questions, please contact the Health Department Secretary at 201-337-8111 x 2018.
