Borough of Oakland Announces Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Opportunity
February 9, 2023 - Oakland, N.J. - The Borough of Oakland is excited to announce that we are partnering with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities (NJLM) for the 2023 Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition. High school juniors and seniors who live in the Borough of Oakland are encouraged to submit an essay about local government for a chance to win one of three $1,000.00 scholarships.
The essay for the statewide scholarship competition should be approximately 500 words long and focus on the theme "What My Municipal Government Does Best". All applicants must bring the completed application and essay to the Mayor's Office by either emailing it to boroclerk@oakland-nj.org or mailing it to One Municipal Plaza, Oakland, N.J. 07436, Attn: Municipal Clerk, by Friday, March 10th.
