Communications Commission

The Communications Commission is comprised of seven commissioners, two alternate commissioners, and one Junior Member.  The Commission's primary function is to assist with disseminating information to the citizens of Oakland and doing research and making suggestions of how the Borough could improve in their communications with the public. They oversee the various committees that operate the various aspects of the Borough's communication with Borough residents.

Underneath the Commission, there are several committees.

• The Television Committee operates the Borough's Local Access Television Station (Channel 77 on Optimum (Altice) and Channel 2145 on FiOS (Verizon)), and use it to broadcast Mayor and Council meetings, community submitted video content, as well as various community events and original programming created by the committee. 
• The Newsletter Committee publishes the monthly emailed newsletter for the residents of Oakland which includes stories, news, and announcements about Oakland.
• The Bulletin Board Committee is responsible for updating the community announcements and news that are posted onto the local access channel, Oakland TV, in addition to selecting the background music that is played during the bulletin board slides.
• The Welcome, Website & Social Media Committee helps to run and advise the Borough on its social media accounts, has a role in the Borough's website, and creates and maintains a Welcome Packet for new residents of Oakland.
