Tax Sale:

In New Jersey, all municipalities are required to hold at least one tax sale per year. The properties included in the tax sale are those with delinquent property taxes and/or municipal charges that are unpaid on the 11th day of the 11th month of the current tax year. (pursuant to N.J.S.A. 54:5-19).

The Borough of Oakland will hold its annual online accelerated tax lien sale on December 19, 2023.  For the listing of parcels included in this year’s tax sale visit www.oakland.newjerseytaxsale.com

The statute requires a Public Notice of the Tax Sale.  All delinquencies as of 11/11 of the current year will appear in the Public Notice.

Any properties whose account is made current will be removed from the Tax Sale.  The amount owed is calculated as follows:

Delinquent Taxes and/or other Municipal Charges + Interest + Cost of Sale (2% of delinquent amount up to $100) = Total Amount owed.

To receive the exact amount owed and any questions should be directed to the Water Clerk, Alexander Dellatorre at 201-337-8111 ext.#2013, or utilityclerk@oakland-nj.org.

All payments received after November 10th MUST be made using guaranteed funds: cash or cashier’s check.  Any other form of payment WILL NOT be accepted.  All other checks WILL be returned.

Note: Failure of the property owner to receive a notice of tax sale property mailed by the Tax Collector shall not constitute grounds to void the subsequent tax sale.

All residential and commercial properties being sold or transferred need a final meter reading and final bill prior to closing and/or transfer.  Please select the FINAL WATER BILL INSTRUCTIONS below.
