Borough of Oakland Announces Hometown Hero Veterans Recognition Program

Oakland, N.J. – August 17, 2022 – The Borough of Oakland is pleased to announce the Hometown Hero Veterans Recognition Program,  which will honor your Oakland Veteran with a Social Media, Website, and Digital Sign posting. To be eligible, you must live in Oakland and be honorably discharged. Applications are found online here, and are available at the Borough Hall. Submissions must include a DD-214, separation papers, or proof of veteran organization membership. Please submit an original photo via email to boroclerk@oakland-nj.org, or hard copy with a return postage envelope. Scanned photos must be in JPEG format and the highest resolution possible. When mailing please be sure to identify the Veteran in the photo. Digital Sign Graphics will run for seven days total, in the order that we receive applications.  Participants will be notified when your graphic will be posted.
