Borough of Oakland Announces Spotted Lanternfly Treatments at Specific Locations

Oakland, N.J. – September 25, 2023 – The Borough of Oakland has announced that on or about Wednesday September 27, 2023, specific locations in the Borough will be treated for spotted lanternfly. The treatments, which will be performed on specific right-of-way trees, will be applied as a low pressure spray to the lower 3’ of the tree trunk and absorbed directly through the bark. After the trees have been treated, the trees will then be removed in the future. Most of the trees will be treated with a solution of Triclopryr, while others will be treated with insecticides and herbicides. The vendor will perform follow up visits to inspect the trees. All of the herbicide treated trees will be tagged for removal.  The subject trees are locations on the following streets:

  • Andrew Avenue
  • Blackfoot Trail
  • Cherokee Trail
  • Franklin Avenue
  • Hemlock Street
  • Lenape Lane
  • Manito Avenue
  • Purdue Avenue
  • Truman Boulevard
  • West Oakland Avenue
  • Recreation Complex Walking Path
