Borough of Oakland Conducting Pet Census

Pet Census 2023

Oakland, N.J. – September 18, 2023 –

The Borough of Oakland is conducting an animal census for the Oakland community to ensure that all pets (cats and dogs) are licensed and vaccinated against rabies, as required by Borough code.

The census is vital for maintaining animal records, rabies control, and animal population reports.

Canvassers, who will be equipped with identification cards, will be going door-to-door throughout the community over the next two months. They will be visiting every residence in the Borough. The individuals that will be performing this census are simply gathering the necessary information and have no control if a summons, or late fine will be issued for failure to register your pet(s).

Licensing information, as well as the online application is available here. For questions, or to check on the status of your pet(s) licensing, please contact the Borough Clerk's office at (201) 337-8111, ext. 2001.
