The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Food Drive

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has conducted an annual nationwide food drive on the second Saturday in May for more than 20 years. The drive is held in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam. On that day, letter carriers collect non-perishable food donations as they deliver mail along their postal routes. The drive has annually collected more than 70 million pounds of food to help feed people in need.

The letter carriers in Oakland will be participating in the NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 11, 2024. On this day, Oakland residents who wish to participate can leave out the non-perishable food items near their mailbox, in a clearly visible area, where postal carriers can pick up the donations upon delivering the mail. A note can be placed on the food items stating, “For the NALC Food Drive."

Together, we can make a difference in assisting those who need a helping hand.
