Notice of Public Hearing Sanitary Sewer Extension Project

The Borough of Oakland Sewer Utility will hold a Public Hearing on the proposed sanitary sewer extension project at 7:00 p.m. on Monday November 30, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, the meeting will be held online through Zoom video conferencing. The meeting will be shown live on YouTube. Members of the public who wish to comment may go to the Borough website for instructions on how to access the meeting and to view the meeting agenda www.oakland-nj.org. If a member of the public wishes to submit a comment in advance, it can be submitted in writing by 4:00 pm on Wednesday November 25, 2020 to Lisa Duncan, 1 Municipal Plaza, Oakland, NJ 07436 or by email that is received by 12:00 pm on Friday November 27, 2020 to boroclerk@oakland-nj.org.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has reviewed the documentation for the proposed Sanitary Sewer System Project, Decommissioning of Existing Sewer Treatment Plants and connection to the Northwest Bergen County Utility Authority (NBCUA), NJDEP Project No. S340481-06 and has determined that this project warrants a Level 2 Environmental Review in order to qualify for financing under the New Jersey Water Bank Program.

The proposed project will convey the sewerage from the existing sewer service area to Franklin Lakes, NJ where it will connect to the NBCUA system for treatment. The estimated project cost is $5,720,000. The project will include the construction of a 3 inch force main from the existing collection system to NBCUA, the installation of (3) pumping stations to move the flow and the decommissioning of the (3) existing treatment plants.
