Oakland Public Library Available as a Cooling Center During This Week's Heat Wave

Cooling Center

Oakland, N.J. - July 26, 2023 - During this week's heat wave, the Borough of Oakland would like to remind residents that a cooling center remains open for those in need.

The Oakland Public Library, located at 2 Municipal Plaza, is available as a cooling center on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Library is closed on Sunday in the summer.

Everyone is welcome to use the cooling centers, which have air conditioning, seating, and offer a place to charge your mobile devices. The cooling centers are primarily intended for those who do not have access to air conditioning and for whom being in extreme heat can be dangerous, if not fatal.
