Dear Residents,
I'm thrilled to share some exciting updates happening in our community.
Firstly, we're making great progress on the enhancements at Bush Plaza! From sidewalk brick inlays to the ordering of the flagpole and clock, these improvements will enhance the area's aesthetic appeal for all residents to enjoy.
Additionally, the completion of the PSEG gas main replacement in certain areas is excellent news for our community. Plans to repave affected roads are also underway, and once PSEG provides the paving dates, residents will be able to plan accordingly, ensuring smoother and safer travel throughout Oakland.
Furthermore, I'm pleased to announce the acceleration of the Oakland road paving program. Moving the resurfacing program up to spring and awarding the bid at the April 30, 2024 council meeting indicate that the project is moving forward efficiently. Residents can look forward to improvements on Monhegan, Lakeside Blvd, and the Glen Gray Ramapo Reserve exits, greatly enhancing our roads.
Additionally, the Seminole Ave sidewalk project is on track for completion by the second week of May. This project will significantly enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility in the area, making our community more walkable for everyone.
Residents of the Reserve may have noticed that utility contractors have already begun work on securing utilities for the Patriots Way Bridge. A construction office has been moved onsite, and pedestrian traffic on the bridge has been limited. We are having biweekly construction meetings as the project ramps up. A mirror for the end of Glen Gray road, reflectors and speed calming signs have all been ordered. We are waiting for delivery, and all will be installed.
Lastly, there was an Oakland town-wide cleanup event on April 20, 2024. This was a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate community spirit and keep our town clean and beautiful. Volunteers, including the Environmental Commission, Girl Scouts, and residents came together to make a difference.
