Hometown Hero Banner Program

Banner Information:

The Borough of Oakland is pleased to announce the Hometown Hero Banner Program, which will honor your Oakland Veteran with a 30” X 60” banner displayed along Ramapo Valley Road from Armed Forces Day through Veterans Day for a minimum of 3 years. If the banner needs replacement in the first 3 years, the Borough will replace it at no cost to the applicant.

Items Needed for Application:

- DD-214 or other proof of service. All forms will be reviewed prior to approval.
- Email or drop off hard copy of the service member’s picture. Digital photos must be scanned at a minimum of 150 dpi at full size.
- Cost $125.00 - Make checks payable to “Borough of Oakland”

Instructions:

Mail or drop off application with necessary documents and payment to the Acting Borough Clerk, Wendi Seelin, at 1 Municipal Plaza, Oakland, NJ 07436. Pictures may be e-mailed to boroclerk@oakland-nj.org.

Donations:

To ensure that all who deserve this recognition can be included, the Borough will be accepting donations to assist those who may face financial barriers to participating.

If you’d like to contribute, your donation will help make it possible for more families to celebrate their loved ones on banners displayed proudly throughout the Borough.
